Greek Butter Cookies (Koulourakia)

A traditional Greek butter cookie, perfect for dipping in coffee or tea.


Preheat your oven to 350 °F.


Cream butter well, add sugar slowly


Add whiskey, vanilla extract, orange juice, and egg. Mix well.


Add flour and baking powder. Mix well.


Refrigerate dough for a couple hours.


Roll dough into ropes and shape into the letter S, placing on a cookie sheet.


Beat an egg yolk and add a little water. Brush the cookies with the egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds.


Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
